What Cats Really Meant in Ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt, cats were deeply woven into both daily life and spiritual belief. They first earned their place as pest controllers, keeping snakes, mice, and scorpions at bay. But their presence in the home quickly evolved into something far more symbolic.
Egyptians believed cats had protective qualities—not only in life, but in the afterlife. Tomb paintings show cats hunting beside their humans or sitting calmly under chairs, and mummified cats were sometimes placed in tombs as funerary companions. The idea was that a cat’s spirit could help protect the soul or even be inhabited by a god.
Over time, feline traits were linked to powerful deities. Bastet, the goddess of home and fertility, was eventually depicted as a domestic cat. Sekhmet, goddess of war and healing, took the form of a lioness. Even pharaohs helped elevate the cat’s image, dressing them in gold and feeding them from royal plates.
Cats weren’t worshipped as gods, but they were seen as vessels of divine presence—symbols of protection, motherhood, and strength. In art, mythology, and everyday life, they reminded Egyptians that the sacred could appear in familiar forms.

Cat Mom Sees Touching Sign From Nature
After burying her beloved cat under a tree in her yard, one cat mom hoped the space would grow into a peaceful place of remembrance. A year later, she happened to glance out the window and saw something that felt like a quiet miracle. A butterfly had landed gently at the base of the tree, with a group of kittens sitting around it, calmly watching.
The moment felt still and sacred. The butterfly lingered, fluttering slowly while the kittens stayed close by, as if sensing the importance of the place. “Looked out the window to find kittens watching a butterfly… under the tree I planted for my cat who passed away last year,” she wrote. “Beautiful things happen all the time.”
Though short, the visit felt deeply meaningful. For the cat mom, it was a quiet sign that love and connection don’t end when a pet is gone.
The tree now marks more than a resting place. It’s where life, memory, and gentle moments continue to meet.

Science Links Mitochondria & Muscle Strength
As our muscles age, they naturally lose mass, strength, and function – a result of certain muscle fibers shrinking – contributing to fatigue and weakness beginning as early as our 30s.
Recent research highlights that the key player in this aging process is our mitochondria, tiny-but-mighty organelles that produce more than 90% of our body’s energy. Importantly, scientists have found a strong link between decreased mitochondrial health and muscle health decline with aging, emphasizing the importance of maintaining these cellular engines.
A new way to support and improve muscle health as we age, Mitopure® by Timeline is clinically shown to meaningfully boost our mitochondrial health to improve muscle strength and endurance, without any change in exercise required.

Yes, Female Cats Can Spray Too
Spraying is often associated with male cats, but females can spray too, especially if they’re unspayed or feeling stressed. It’s different from regular urination: the cat stays standing, tail raised, and releases a small stream of urine against a vertical surface.
Some cats spray to mark territory, especially if they sense another cat nearby. Others may be reacting to household changes like a new pet, loud noises, or a disrupted routine. Medical issues, including urinary tract infections or bladder inflammation, can also lead to spraying, so a vet check is a smart first step.
Spray tends to smell stronger than regular urine because it’s more concentrated and rich in pheromones.
To discourage spraying, clean affected areas with an enzymatic cleaner and avoid strong-scented products. Give your cat space, stimulation, and places to perch or hide. If the behavior continues, a feline behaviorist can help identify what’s driving it and create a plan tailored to your cat’s needs.
