When it comes to feeding your cat, the “wet vs. dry” debate isn’t about which is better in general—it’s about what’s better for your cat. Wet food has more moisture, tends to be tastier, and is often easier for cats with dental or kidney issues. Dry food is more budget-friendly, lasts longer, and works well for cats who graze.

Some cats benefit from a mix of both. Wet food adds hydration, while dry food fits into puzzle feeders or busy schedules. If your cat’s a picky eater or needs more fluids, canned food might be the way to go.

Look for foods that meet AAFCO standards and match your cat’s needs and preferences. Ingredient lists matter, but so does what your cat actually likes to eat.
