Is One Cat Food Type Better Than Another?
When it comes to feeding your cat, the āwet vs. dryā debate isnāt about which is better in generalāitās about whatās better for your cat. Wet food has more moisture, tends to be tastier, and is often easier for cats with dental or kidney issues. Dry food is more budget-friendly, lasts longer, and works well for cats who graze.
Some cats benefit from a mix of both. Wet food adds hydration, while dry food fits into puzzle feeders or busy schedules. If your catās a picky eater or needs more fluids, canned food might be the way to go.
Look for foods that meet AAFCO standards and match your catās needs and preferences. Ingredient lists matter, but so does what your cat actually likes to eat.
Still torn? Many vets recommend a combo approach: wet food for hydration and taste, dry food for convenience and crunch. You get flexibility, and your cat gets variety.

Cats of the Day: Squeak and Moon
Daily Purr reader Nicole shares Squeak and Moon, two affectionate companions who couldnāt be more different in originābut are perfectly in sync today. Squeak, the orange tabby, was a barn rescue with a big heart. Once a stray, sheās now a devoted lap cat who adores attention and never turns down a cozy cuddle.
Moon, the Russian Blue with a velvet-soft coat, is just as lovingāand a little bit clever. Heās recently learned to fetch his pizza toy and politely deliver it to the kitchen in exchange for a treat. Once picked up, heās known to give full-on hugs.
Together, these two show just how deeply rescue cats can bond with their humansāand how rewarding it can be to share your home with a little patience, training, and love.

Breed Spotlight: Russian Blue
Shimmery gray fur, wide green eyes, and a gentle spiritāRussian Blues tend to leave an impression. This quiet, observant breed is known for forming strong bonds with their people while staying politely distant from chaos or strangers.
Originally from northern Russia, the breed was once favored by czars and aristocrats. Russian Blues are highly intelligent, often learning tricks like fetch, and are known to ātalk backā with soft meowsāif they feel like it. Their plush double coat is famously low-shedding and even considered hypoallergenic by some.
Though graceful and independent, theyāre not standoffish. Many will greet you at the door, shadow your movements, and snuggle close on the couchāon their own terms.
They thrive in calm homes and do well with gentle children or mellow pets. If youāre looking for a companion whoās equal parts regal and loyal, the Russian Blue may be your match.
