ā€œThe best Valentine is one who chooses your lap.ā€

Happy Friday:

True or False?

Cats only show affection through purring.

Is Your Cat Saying "I Love You"?

If you’ve ever wondered whether your cat truly loves you, the answer is likely yes. Cats have unique ways of showing affection, often more subtle than a dog’s wagging tail or slobbery kisses.

One of the most heartwarming signs is the slow blink. Cats use this as a way to communicate trust and affection. If your cat blinks slowly at you, try returning the gesture (they’ll appreciate it!). Another sign of love is proximity. Cats tend to stay close to those they feel safe with, so if your kitty is always lounging nearby, consider it a sign of attachment.

Meowing is another key indicator. Unlike dogs, cats rarely meow at each other; it’s reserved for communicating with humans. If your cat meows for attention, it means they want to connect. Purring is a common sign of contentment and love, but did you know that cats also knead? This ā€œmaking biscuitsā€ behavior goes back to kittenhood, showing trust and affection.

These are just a few ways your cat expresses their love. From slow blinks to cozy cuddles, cats communicate their feelings in subtle yet meaningful ways.

Spend Valentine’s Day with a Shelter Cat

This Valentine’s Day, Best Friends Animal Society is offering a unique way for pet lovers to spend the holiday: by fostering a shelter dog or cat for a sleepover. From February 14th to 17th, shelters across the U.S. are inviting individuals to spend a night with a pet in need, giving them a temporary home and a chance at a better life.

The event is designed to give both the animals and their potential adopters a chance to bond. Pet lovers can pick up their chosen pet and enjoy the companionship of a cat or dog who might otherwise spend the day alone in a shelter. Best Friends Animal Society believes this initiative can help foster important relationships that may lead to permanent adoptions.

The program also offers free adoptions over Valentine’s Day weekend, allowing those who make a connection with their foster pet to officially adopt them without the usual fees. This effort is part of Best Friends' mission to reduce the number of animals in shelters and create lasting, loving homes for all pets.
