Did You Know?

Cats and dogs communicate with different _____ language.

The Kitten Who Helped a Dog Learn to Walk Again

At a Maryland animal hospital, a French Bulldog puppy named Blueberry and a kitten named Meadow were both recovering from leg amputations at the same time. Different species, same wobbly new normal, and somehow that was enough to make them inseparable.

They cuddled, shared toys, and barely left each other's side during recovery. Turns out that's not unusual. Dogs and cats tend to adapt to life on three legs way faster than their humans expect, and having a companion going through the same thing seems to help even more.

Their bond got so obvious that when the rescue posted about them, people started begging for the two to be adopted together. In March, a Maryland family who already had experience with special-needs pets (including their own three-legged cat) took them both home.

Six legs, two hearts, zero regrets. Some friendships are just built to last.

What Is Your Cat Actually Doing All Day?

You leave for work convinced your cat just sleeps until you're back. Not quite. Cats do sleep 13 to 16 hours a day, but a lot of that is light dozing, more of a "one eye open" situation than a real nap.

The rest of their day is surprisingly busy. Grooming alone eats up 30 to 50 percent of their waking hours, that's 2 to 5 hours of daily self-care. Add in window-watching (cats reportedly spend around 30% of their time on lookout duty) and a bit of roaming and play, and your cat's schedule is fuller than it looks.

Here's the useful part: once you know your cat's normal rhythm, it's easier to spot when something's off, like sleeping through mealtimes or suddenly skipping the grooming routine. A simple routine (same feeding time, same play sessions) makes those baseline habits easy to track.

So next time you catch your cat "napping" on the windowsill, know that it's actually a very full workday. Naps, surveillance, self-care, repeat.

The Most Overlooked Part of Your Home

You probably don’t think much about what sits at your front door, but it’s the first thing you and everyone else interacts with when coming home. Porte + Hall was built around the idea that this space deserves more attention.

Founded by an interior designer, the brand rethinks everyday entryway essentials with a focus on both design and durability. The result is a collection that feels intentional, elevated, and made to handle real life without looking like an afterthought.

Daily Purr readers can take 15% off sitewide (excluding the Porter) with code ENTRY15—a simple way to upgrade a small detail that makes a bigger impact than you’d expect.

Meet Cat Of The Day, Shemyah

Meet Shemyah, better known as Myah, a spirited “tabby tuxedo” submitted by Daily Purr reader Vicki.

Myah’s story started outside Sherm’s Market, where Vicki heard two tiny kittens yowling during a grocery run. By the time she left the store, she had been chosen by an estimated 5-week-old kitten and was heading home with a new family member.

Since then, Myah has grown into a mischievous teenager with plenty of zoomies, purrs, and personality. She keeps her tuxedo siblings, Jack and Teeney, on their toes, offers cuddles when she’s in the mood, and has brought a whole lot of fun to the house.

Skincare built by longevity scientists

Most skincare treats the symptoms of aging. OS-01 FACE was built by longevity scientists to address the cause. With age, some skin cells stop functioning – accelerating the visible skin decline that most skincare was never designed to address. OneSkin is different. It's skincare with better science and real results.
