What Cats Can and Can’t Eat at Thanksgiving

When Thanksgiving rolls around, it’s hard to resist sharing a bite or two with your cat. The good news is that some festive foods are perfectly fine in small portions. Plain, cooked turkey breast tops the list of cat-safe treats, along with tiny amounts of ham, salmon, and unseasoned veggies like carrots or sweet potato.

But not everything on the table is safe. Skip anything seasoned or rich. Gravy, stuffing, and pumpkin pie can upset your cat’s stomach. Avoid bones, skin, fat, dairy, and especially toxic ingredients like onions, garlic, raisins, and chocolate.

If you want to include your cat in the celebration, keep it simple. A few bites of plain turkey will make their day, and spare you a trip to the emergency vet.

Holiday Traditions to Share With Your Cat

Holidays are better with cats. That’s just a fact. Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, or just winter coziness, this season is the perfect time to make new traditions with your favorite feline.

Start simple: take holiday photos with your cat using festive props or a cozy home setup. You’ll capture their playful side (and maybe a few photobombs). Over the years, these snapshots can become a timeline of memories together. If you’re crafty, make paw print ornaments or fill a clear ornament with your cat’s fur or whiskers. It’s a sweet way to mark each holiday season. And yes, it’s as adorable as it sounds.

When the big day arrives, do something just for them. Wrap up new toys, share a treat, or plan extra cuddle time. Your cat doesn’t care about presents, but they’ll love your attention.

Finally, give them a holiday twist on enrichment. Maybe a mini “cat tree” decorated with toys or a window bird feeder for feline entertainment. A little creativity turns any holiday into a celebration for two.

Meet Cat of the Day, Peaches

This is Peaches, showing off her Halloween costume a little late because true royalty never rushes an entrance. Dressed as a lion, she wore her mane with pride and gave everyone a glimpse of her inner queen.

With her golden fur and confident stare, Peaches looks every bit the ruler of her home (and heart). She may have traded her roar for a purr, but her presence is just as commanding.

Even in November, Peaches reminds us that a great costume and a great cat never go out of season.
