Archie the cat may have had a beautiful view, but he probably wasn’t enjoying it much. After escaping from a residential area near the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, the frightened cat ran up a ponderosa pine tree and got stuck.

Grand Canyon National Park firefighters and park rangers found him about 15 feet off the ground. Archie had draped himself over a branch and seemed very committed to not moving.

A firefighter climbed a ladder while a park ranger held it steady, then carefully lifted Archie from the tree. Thankfully, the nervous little climber was safe and injury-free once he was back on solid ground.

The park team shared Archie’s rescue on social media while looking for his family. Later that evening, he was reunited with his relieved owners.

Archie has since settled back in like nothing happened, which feels very cat of him. His family, however, will probably be watching his future “adventures” a little more closely.

Cat dads usually aren’t the hands-on type. In the wild, male cats typically don’t stick around after mating, and mother cats are well-equipped to raise kittens on their own.

In homes, though, things can be a little different. Some male cats may bond with kittens, especially if they’re calm around the mother cat. They might groom them, play gently, or keep watch from nearby.

There’s also a fun feline twist: kittens in the same litter can have different fathers if the mother mated with more than one male.

If a cat dad meets kittens, introductions should be slow and supervised. Waiting until kittens are at least 4 to 6 weeks old can help, since they’re less fragile then.

Hissing, swatting, or growling usually means stress or territorial behavior, not jealousy. Give everyone space, keep routines steady, and separate them if anyone seems overwhelmed.
