Wednesday 6/17: Sponsored by Smalls - pregnant cats rescued, feeding fresh, cat of the day

“A cat’s favorite plan is the one they made without telling you.”

Happy Wednesday:

Did You Know?

Three Cat Moms Get A Second Chance

A strange box outside a U.K. veterinary clinic turned into a rescue story with a much sweeter ending. Staff first saw a taped-up planter with a note on top, then discovered three pregnant cats tucked inside.

The cats had been crammed into the sealed container with only a few air holes. No one knows exactly how long they were there, but help arrived before the situation became even more dangerous.

Yorkshire Cat Rescue took in two of the cats, Charlie and Cherry, while another rescue cared for the third. Not long after, both moms gave birth in safety.

Charlie welcomed four kittens named Augustus, Josephine, Oompa and Loompa. Cherry had two more, sweetly named Wonka and Humbug.

Now the little families are in foster care, eating well and settling in. After such a frightening start, these cat moms finally have what they needed most: a safe, quiet place to raise their babies.

Should You Be Feeding Your Cat Fresh Food?

Fresh food for cats sounds a little fancy, but the goal is simple: give cats meals that are closer to what their bodies are built to use. That usually means more animal-based protein, more moisture, and ingredients that haven’t been heavily processed.

That can matter because cats are obligate carnivores. They need nutrients from animal proteins, including amino acids that support muscle, heart, eye, and overall health.

Fresh or wet-style foods can also help with hydration, which is a big deal for cats. Many aren’t enthusiastic water drinkers, so moisture-rich meals can support urinary and kidney health.

For some cats, a fresher diet may also support better digestion, steadier energy, and a healthier coat. It can be especially helpful for cats who need a little more moisture or do better with simpler ingredients.

The key is finding a fresh option that’s complete, balanced, and right for your cat’s needs. When the food in the bowl is doing more of the heavy lifting, your cat’s whole routine can benefit.

Improve Your Cat’s Daily Routine With Fresh Food

Cats are creatures of habit, and mealtime is one of the biggest parts of their day. But if your cat seems less excited about their food, has low energy, deals with frequent hairballs, or leaves behind a smellier litter box, their daily routine may be trying to tell you something.

Fresh food can make that routine feel better. Smalls uses ultra-high protein recipes that make mealtime more appealing. Many cats get more enthusiastic about fresh food because it has the texture, moisture, and protein they instinctively crave, while also supporting hydration and digestion.

Since cats naturally use protein as a key energy source, a protein-rich meal can help support everything from playfulness to muscle health.

In fact, 90% of customers say they’ve seen improvements in their cat’s health after switching. Smalls also makes it easy to start. Take a quick quiz to find a personalized plan for your cat, or try a sampler first before committing.

For a limited time, new customers can get free cat treats for life.
