True or False?

Cats have three eyelids on each eye.

This Sweet Cat Wanted Company While Giving Birth

Labor is a lot to handle, especially if you’re a cat. When Ally Denman’s Scottish Fold/Munchkin mix went into labor, she didn’t want to do it alone. Her human stayed by her side, rubbing her belly and offering support through the whole process.

This mama cat delivered six healthy kittens, each one seemingly stamped with her signature coat colors. While her exact breed mix isn’t obvious, her relaxed temperament and soft fur were clearly passed down. Once the kittens arrived, she got right to work nursing—and they’ve all already found homes.

It’s a happy ending all around, and a reminder that even the most independent cats sometimes just want a hand to hold…or, in this case, a belly rub.

Why Your Cat Makes Biscuits Before Bed

Cats don’t need an oven to bake—just a soft blanket and a little mood. That rhythmic paw-push cats do, known as kneading, is a leftover comfort habit from kittenhood. Paired with purring, it’s their way of reliving safe, cozy feelings.

Kittens knead while nursing to stimulate milk flow. As adults, they often do it when settling into a blanket, your belly, or a fresh pile of laundry. It can also serve other purposes: stretching muscles, self-soothing during stress, or subtly marking territory with the scent glands in their paws.

Most of the time, it’s a sign of pure contentment. But if it’s constant or accompanied by other stress signs, it may mean your cat is looking for comfort.

If your cat has taken a liking to kneading something precious (like Grandma’s quilt), redirect them to a soft, cozy alternative. And when they do switch, reward them—so next time, your blanket stays intact.

Breed Spotlight: Japanese Bobtail Longhair

Not every cat comes with a built-in good luck charm, but the Japanese Bobtail Longhair kind of does. With their rabbit-like tails and silky coats, these cats are equal parts unique and lovable. While rare in the U.S., they’ve long been admired in Japan—legend says they were once gifts to emperors.

Bobtails are famously outgoing. They chirp, follow you around, and even enjoy meeting strangers. They’re athletic too, with powerful hind legs and a knack for climbing whatever you forgot to cat-proof.

Grooming isn’t too fussy for a longhaired breed. Their fine coats resist mats, and they shed less than you'd expect. Weekly brushing usually does the trick.

These cats aren’t just good with kids—they thrive in active households. Add their friendliness with other pets, and you’ve got a cat that fits into just about any home, as long as they get playtime and attention.
