True or False?

Ragdolls got their name because they go limp when you pick them up.

The Tabby Who Chose His Human

Some visits to the shelter don’t go as planned—in the best way possible. One hopeful adopter arrived thinking she’d leave with a black cat. But as she walked past a kennel, a brown tabby stood up, reached his paw through the bars, and meowed loudly for attention.

That moment changed everything. The tabby wasn’t shy about his feelings—he pressed his face to the gate, stretched his paws out again and again, and made it clear he wasn’t letting this visitor leave without meeting him. Even though the kennel held a half-dozen kittens, it was this bold, vocal cat who made a lasting impression.

She reached back, touched his paw, and just like that, a connection was made. He had picked her. And soon, he had a name—Reyno—and a new home.

He wasn’t the cat she set out to find. But he turned out to be exactly the one she needed. Sometimes, the best matches aren’t planned—they just know when they’ve found each other.

Why is My Cat Peeing on Things?

If your cat suddenly starts peeing on your clothes, bed, or floor, it’s probably not random—and definitely not out of spite. According to the ASPCA, up to 10% of cats will urinate outside the litter box at some point, and it’s often a signal that something isn’t quite right.

In many cases, medical issues are to blame. Conditions like UTIs, kidney disease, diabetes, or arthritis can all make using the litter box more difficult or painful. Stress is another big factor—new pets, changes in routine, or loud environments can lead cats to mark their territory as a way to self-soothe.

Litter box issues are also common. A box that’s too dirty, hard to reach, or shared with too many cats can be a major turnoff. And unneutered male cats are more likely to spray, especially in multi-cat households.

If your cat is peeing outside the box, the best first step is a vet visit. Once medical issues are ruled out, small changes—like adding litter boxes, switching litter types, or offering more enrichment—can often solve the problem.

Breed Spotlight: Ukrainian Levkoy

With their wrinkled skin, angular faces, and folded ears, Ukrainian Levkoys don’t look like most cats—and they don’t act like them either. This quirky, affectionate breed is known for being talkative, intelligent, and deeply social.

Developed in 2004 by a Russian breeder who crossed a Scottish Fold with a Donskoy, Levkoys were designed to be different. They’re hairless (or nearly), but many have a layer of soft fuzz. Their personalities are often described as “doglike”—loyal, energetic, and always ready to play or cuddle.

These cats thrive with company. They can get anxious if left alone too long, but do great with another cat or even a gentle dog. They’re also smart and curious, so toys, puzzles, and a routine matter.

Though they’re officially recognized in Ukraine and Russia, Levkoys are still rare elsewhere. But if you ever meet one, don’t be surprised if they charm their way right into your lap—and your heart.
