This Cat Steals Laundry And Wins Hearts

Leonardo da Pinchy, a 15-month-old cat from Auckland, has earned fame for his love of stealing laundry. From socks to silk boxers, this little thief has a knack for swiping clothes from his neighbors’ lines, and sometimes, even pricey items like a $180 cashmere sweater.

His owner, Helen North, tried everything to stop his kleptomania, but Leonardo’s crime spree continues. Helen has even posted about his heists on local Facebook pages to return stolen goods.

Despite the trouble, Leonardo has become a local celebrity, with many neighbors charmed by his antics. Some, however, have been inconvenienced: one cat-allergic neighbor now dries laundry indoors.

For now, Leonardo’s reign of laundry theft remains strong, and his family hopes he’ll grow out of it.

Breed Spotlight: Norwegian Forest

If you’re seeking a cat with a bold personality and a love for climbing, the Norwegian Forest Cat might be your perfect match. Their heritage dates back to ancient times, believed to have originated with Norse myths, making them both a majestic and charming breed.

Though larger than most domestic cats, they are affectionate without being clingy. Norwegian Forest Cats enjoy spending time with their owners, but can also entertain themselves. Their intelligence makes them excellent learners, whether that’s playing with toys or learning tricks.

These cats are also great in multi-pet households, getting along with other cats and dogs. Just make sure you provide enough space for climbing, as they love to perch up high.

While their thick coats are relatively low-maintenance, Norwegian Forest Cats can develop certain health conditions, like hip dysplasia, so regular vet visits are essential.

Four Ways to Quiet Door-Meowing Cats

If your cat meows at doors like it's their full-time job, you're not alone. Many cats call out because they want access, attention, or just want to know what’s going on. It’s a form of communication meant for you, not other cats.

To stop the noise, first resist reacting with frustration. Scolding can make things worse. Instead, try distracting your cat with toys, especially when they start to approach the door. A good wand toy session can use up all that extra energy.

If your cat still insists, consider giving them safe outdoor access through a catio. Even a small balcony setup with climbing spots and cat grass can satisfy their curiosity. For persistent meowing, some try motion-sensor air cans, but it’s best to focus on positive reinforcement when you can.

Gradual desensitization, daily playtime, and a cozy environment can go a long way. If all else fails, a vet or cat behaviorist may help rule out deeper issues.
