Meet Cat of the Day, Mochi
Meet Mochi, Marilynne’s 8-year-old rescue and dedicated household timekeeper. This mackerel tabby has never once forgotten a meal. Even if she looks fast asleep, she’s instantly alert the moment her feeding hour arrives.
If dinner is running late, Mochi has a system: first, a silent stare. Then, a polite tap. By the third tap… the claws come out, and the message is unmistakable.
Reliable, expressive, and impressively punctual, Mochi is proof that when a cat’s internal clock speaks, you listen!

Holiday Foods Cats Can And Can’t Eat
Cats are natural holiday supervisors, especially when holiday dinner comes out, but not everything on the table is safe for them. A few classics should be completely off-limits. Chocolate is dangerous even in tiny amounts, and anything with raisins or currants (like Christmas pudding or mince pies) can cause serious kidney trouble. Stuffing and gravy often contain onions, and most cats are lactose intolerant, so skip the creamy dishes and Santa’s milk cup.
There are a few festive foods your cat can enjoy in small amounts. Lean turkey or chicken, boneless cooked fish, carrots, peas, or even a tiny Brussels sprout can make a safe holiday nibble. But moderation is key. Too many new foods can lead to an upset stomach, and curious cats don’t always know when to stop.
If you want to include them in the celebration without any risk, a calming lickable treat (like chicken-flavored cat snacks) is a sweet, safe way to share the moment.

Help Your Cat Live A Longer Life
Cats are like family. And even though indoor cats stay away from outdoor dangers, there are still plenty of household hazards they can get into, sometimes without us ever noticing. As the end of the year approaches, it’s a good time to make sure your cat has the care they need for any unexpected emergencies next year and beyond.
The no-annual-fee Nibbles Pet Rewards Credit Card includes free pet insurance for one eligible cat, giving you extra protection when your cat decides to explore something they shouldn’t. It’s simple coverage and everyday rewards, all in one place.
Nibbles is not a bank. The Nibbles Card is issued by Lead Bank. Fees and T&C apply.
Thank you to Nibbles for sponsoring Daily Purr.

Senior Tripod Cat Finds Safety At Last
Caitlyn Clarke first spotted the shy orange cat darting across her Arizona yard, and she assumed that was the end of it. But soon she and her mom kept hearing soft meows echoing from the storm drain outside. When they peeked in, a pair of worried eyes stared back.
Night after night, Caitlyn sat outside trying to earn his trust. Only when he finally stepped toward her did she realize something surprising: he had three legs. And even then, he still wasn’t ready to leave his hiding spot.
Everything changed during a heavy monsoon. Soaked and trembling, the cat appeared at Caitlyn’s door, and her family rushed him inside. A microchip scan revealed his name (Bambino) and an even bigger surprise: he was 14 years old.
His original rescuer shared that Bambino had lost his leg as a kitten and had been passed between homes before disappearing. Now, he was safe again. Today, Bambino spends his days napping, snuggling, and head-butting his new person with total trust.
