How to Fix Litter Issues in Aging Cats

If your older cat has started missing the litter box, it’s more common than you think. Aging cats may struggle with joint pain, vision loss, or even cognitive changes that make it harder to find or use their usual bathroom spot.

Health issues like arthritis or kidney disease can lead to discomfort or more urgent trips. Try a low-entry box with softer litter, and keep it in the same location. A clean, quiet spot helps too. Senior cats can be more sensitive to change or mess.

For cats with memory issues, routines matter. Leave a little scent in a freshly cleaned box so they can find it. And don’t forget: adding a second box, especially on another floor, can help prevent accidents.

If the problem doesn’t improve, talk to your vet. Many underlying causes are manageable with the right support.

The Litter Box You Don’t Have To Hide

Let’s be honest: no one enjoys scooping the litter box. It’s messy, smelly, and somehow always your job. That’s why more cat parents are switching to Litter-Robot: the top-rated automatic litter box that handles the chore for you.

Here’s what sets it apart:

  • Self-cleans after every use, so you can say goodbye to scooping

  • Sealed waste drawer to keep odors locked away and your home smelling fresh

  • The Whisker app lets you track your cat’s litter box habits

  • Perfect for up to four cats, so you don’t have to buy multiple boxes

CatCon 2025: The Ultimate Feline Festival

Cat lovers packed the Pasadena Convention Center last weekend to celebrate 10 years of CatCon. The two-day event, held August 2–3, featured workshops, a fashion show, celebrity cat appearances, and a kitten-filled Adoption Village.

More than 200 kittens from Pasadena Humane stole the spotlight, with reduced adoption fees encouraging dozens of new families to bring home a feline friend. Every ticket contributed to the shelter’s rescue work, especially for animals displaced by January’s Eaton Fire.

Attendees lined up to meet internet-famous cats like Sponge Cake and One Eared Uno, got cat-themed fortunes told, and crafted DIY charm bags. The ā€œPurroject Catwalkā€ fashion show featured local designers leaning into cat lady chic.

With over 100,000 total attendees since it began, CatCon continued its legacy of merging fun and feline welfare. This year’s turnout and energy made it one of the biggest and most heartwarming editions yet.

How Thailand Became a Cat-Loving Country

Cats are deeply woven into daily life in Thailand, not as royal pets or sacred icons, but as beloved companions. While myths claimed Thai cats were once owned only by kings or worshipped in temples, the truth is simpler and warmer.

Historical records show Thailand has been home to unique cats like Siamese and Korats for over 700 years. These naturally occurring breeds were never exclusive to royalty. They’ve long been kept by people across the country, especially by those who could afford pets, and cherished for their beauty and personality.

Temples may not have been built for cats, but they’ve always welcomed them. In Thai Buddhism, showing kindness to animals is a virtue. Stray cats are often fed and sheltered by monks, making temples a safe haven for cats in need.

From postage stamps to cat cafƩs, cats are everywhere in Thai life today. Still adored, still part of the culture, but never worshipped. Just loved.
