One Sunday morning, Jo was out walking his dog when a tiny stray kitten appeared out of nowhere. Just two weeks old, the kitten had no hesitation—he walked right up, climbed onto Palma’s dog, and made it clear he wasn’t going anywhere.

With no other cats in sight and the kitten barely the size of Palma’s hand, he knew this little one needed help. His instincts kicked in immediately. “I knew if I didn’t do anything, he was gonna die,” Palma said. So, he scooped up the kitten and brought him home, naming him Leo.

Leo adapted instantly, as if he had always belonged. Palma bottle-fed him during his own mealtimes, took him everywhere, and even let him tag along to the gym. “He would actually do some of the exercises with me,” Palma said.

Now grown, Leo is still as affectionate as the day he was found. He hikes, goes to the beach, and stays close to Palma and the dog he first climbed on. “When I needed someone the most, he was there for me,” Palma said. And Leo has never left his side.
