Meet the Cat Who Loves Playing Piano

While some cats bolt at loud noises, Zlatko heads straight for the piano. His humans are professional musicians, and Zlatko makes it clear he’s part of the daily routine. As soon as someone sits at the bench, he shows up—sometimes sitting in their lap, sometimes dozing on the keys, always involved.

What’s unusual is how long he stays. Many cats would wander off after a few notes. Zlatko hangs around for the full set, whether it’s practice or performance. His favorite? Chopin, a composer known for expressive and emotional piano pieces that have been favorites in concert halls (and now living rooms) since the 1800s.

Zlatko’s not the only cat in the house, but he’s the most devoted music fan. He even seems to know when a favorite piece starts. His humans joke that piano time is his daily entertainment, and he never misses it.

It’s hard to say if it’s the sound or the company that keeps him coming back, but it’s clearly his favorite part of the day.

Cat of the Day, Lucifer

Daily Purr reader Gail introduces Lucifer, a young Maine Coon born on January 11 and already making himself right at home. He’s the newest member of the family—and an instant favorite.

Lucifer is not only adorable but also super intelligent Whether he’s exploring a new corner of the house or figuring out how to get exactly what he wants, he’s proving just how clever Maine Coons can be.

Thanks, Gail, for sharing your new addition! Want to see your cat featured as the Daily Purr Cat of the Day? Send in a photo and some fun facts about your kitty—they might be next!

Signs Your Cat Might Be Feeling Jealous

Cats may not write jealous poetry or throw tantrums like toddlers, but they do have ways of showing when they’re not thrilled about sharing your attention. While science hasn’t officially confirmed that cats experience jealousy like humans, many experts agree their behavior suggests something close to it.

Common signs include blocking you from other pets, meowing more than usual, or lying across your keyboard while you work. Some cats get clingy, others hide or act out by knocking things over or scratching. New pets, changing routines, or even a visiting partner can all trigger a shift.

The good news? There’s plenty you can do to help. Make time each day for dedicated attention and play, and try not to cut back on their favorite things when changes happen at home. Offering more perches or cozy spaces can also help cats feel secure again.

If you’re introducing a new pet or person, go slowly—and keep the treats coming. Cats can adjust, but a little extra patience and consistency from you goes a long way in keeping their world (and yours) peaceful.
