At the Swanton Public Library in Ohio, a small rescue kitten is making a big impact. Benny, a tuxedo cat with energy to spare, spends his days helping kids fall in love with reading.

He was adopted by librarian Anna Burwell after being rescued from a dangerous situation. Soon after arriving at the library, Benny became the star of storytime. Whether he’s zipping through the shelves or curling up mid-story, he draws kids in and helps them feel more at ease.

Staff say Benny’s calming presence and playful spirit make the library feel more welcoming. Some visitors even ask for him by name.

He’s not officially on the payroll, but there’s talk of therapy cat training in his future. For now, Benny’s job is simple: show up, be adorable, and remind everyone that reading is better with a cat nearby.
