300 Miles Later, Beans the Cat Returns Home

Beans, a ginger and white cat from North Lanarkshire, Scotland, has been reunited with his family after his adventure took him over 300 miles away to Coventry, England.

Beans disappeared in late October after heading out for one of his usual wanders. "He always comes home for food after a few hours," his owner Cara shared. But this time, Beans didn’t return. Cara searched tirelessly around the local area but began to fear the worst. "We searched and searched," she said, "but I thought something must have happened to him."

Exactly how Beans traveled so far remains a mystery, but his adventure took a lucky turn when a local woman named Kelly spotted him. "I gave him a few biscuits at first," Kelly explained. "But I noticed he was visiting other neighbors too, and it felt like something wasn’t quite right."

Kelly brought Beans to a local cat charity, where a microchip scan revealed his identity. Cara was shocked when she got the call. "I didn’t think to look in England—I couldn’t imagine he had gone that far!" she said.

The reunion was emotional. "We let him out in the car for a cuddle before putting him back in the carrier for the long journey home," Cara shared. Back at home, Beans is settling back in well and the family’s other cat, Missy, is thrilled to see her friend again.

We’re so grateful Beans is now safe at home, no doubt recovering from his grand adventure— Welcome home Beans!

Cat Dental Care 101: What to Know

When it comes to cat care, dental health often gets overlooked. However, keeping your cat’s teeth healthy is a crucial part of their overall well-being.

Just like us, cats can deal with dental issues like tartar buildup, gum disease, and tooth decay. If left untreated, these problems can lead to pain, tooth loss, and even infections. A little extra attention to their dental health can go a long way in helping your furry friend feel their best.

Here are some easy ways to support your cat’s dental health:

  • Regular Brushing: It might take some patience, but using a cat-safe toothbrush and toothpaste can make a big difference. Start slow and keep it positive with treats or rewards—it doesn’t have to be perfect!

  • Dental Treats and Toys: Cats love a good snack, and dental treats or toys are a fun way to help reduce plaque and keep them entertained.

  • Routine Vet Checkups: Make sure your vet includes a dental exam during your cat’s annual checkup. Catching any issues early can save your cat from discomfort down the road.

  • Professional Cleanings: For tougher cases, professional cleanings from your vet can safely remove buildup and bacteria from under the gums.

Taking care of your cat’s teeth is a small task with big rewards. After all, a healthy, comfortable cat is a happy one—and isn’t that what every cat parent wants?

What Do Our Cats Really Think About Us?

Have you ever wondered how your cat sees you? Research into feline behavior offers unique insights into the inner lives of our cats, revealing that they likely view us as more than just a source of food—they see us as part of their family.

Cats recognize our faces, voices, and even routines. Studies show they can distinguish between their owner’s voice and a stranger’s and often respond to us in ways that reflect their social bond.

Interestingly, cats are also sensitive to our emotions. Research suggests they pick up on tone of voice, posture, and other cues to gauge whether we’re happy, stressed, or upset. When your cat purrs and curls up with you during a tough moment, it’s their subtle way of offering comfort and connection.

When it comes to physical affection, cats have preferences—some enjoy close cuddles, while others prefer light touches or simply being in your presence. This individuality stems from their unique socialization and personalities. Despite the myth of their introverted nature, many cats actively seek out interaction and companionship with their humans.

In their own way, cats see us as trusted companions, forming bonds rooted in attachment and familiarity. How does your cat show their love for you?
