A Chipotle Run Turned Cat Adoption
In 2019, a couple spotted a small kitten alone in a Chipotle parking lot. She was sick, freezing, and hiding in a sewer drain. After a few attempts to coax her out, they tried something different: a warm burrito bowl.
The smell of cheese did the trick. The kitten crawled out, devoured the food, and let them scoop her up. They took her to the vet, where she was treated just in time. The couple named her Penny and brought her home to recover.
Penny adjusted quickly and stuck close to her rescuers from day one. Today, she’s a healthy adult cat—and still obsessed with the scent of Chipotle. Every year on her rescue anniversary, she gets her own pet-safe version of the meal that saved her.

Why Cats Bury Their Waste in the Same Spot
Cats instinctively return to the same spot to bury their waste— here’s why:
Scent marking: Even when they bury it, some scent remains. Returning to the same spot helps cats maintain a consistent scent trail that marks their territory without being too bold.
Safety and habit: If a location feels secure and hasn’t led to danger, cats stick with it. They're creatures of habit and avoid unnecessary risks.
Cleanliness control: Using one area helps them keep the rest of their territory clean. It’s their way of organizing their space — even outside, they’ll have a designated “bathroom zone.”
Setting up a good litter and litter box for your cat helps support their instincts. The best litter mimics soft dirt. Cats prefer fine, clumping, unscented litter that’s easy to dig in. Harsh scents or rough textures can actually stress them out or lead to litter box avoidance. If it feels and smells natural, your cat’s instincts will do the rest."

Cats (and Humans) Love This New Litter
Most traditional cat litters are made from strip-mined clay or silica. Both end up in landfills when thrown away and are not biodegradable.
A new natural cat litter called Tailfeather is changing this with their eco-friendly, plant-based, clumping cat litter made from coconut and cassava.
Why coconut? The husk of the coconut absorbs liquid up to 9 times its weight! This makes for a soft, luxurious litter that cats love and is 70% lighter than traditional litter, but also doesn't track and bounce out of the box.
It's fully biodegradable and 100% plastic-free, including the packaging. Tailfeather is delivered conveniently to your door, and each package lasts for 8 weeks, double the amount of other litters.

What Your Cat’s Purring Is Really Saying
Have you ever wondered why your cat purrs? While it’s often a sign of contentment, purring serves many purposes, from communication to healing. Let’s break down what makes this soothing sound so fascinating.
How Cats Purr
A cat’s purr begins in their brain. Signals from a neural oscillator cause their laryngeal muscles to vibrate at 25-150 times per second, creating the sound we know and love. This unique process happens while they inhale and exhale, making purring constant and rhythmic.
Why Cats Purr
Communication: Cats purr to express emotions, from happiness to stress. Some even add a high-pitched cry into their purr to grab our attention.
Self-Soothing: Purring helps cats stay calm in stressful situations, like during a vet visit.
Healing: Purring vibrations promote bone and tissue repair, reduce pain, and improve breathing.
Health Benefits for Humans
Stress Relief: The sound of a purr can help lower anxiety.
Lower Blood Pressure: Studies show that cat owners are less likely to suffer from heart-related issues.
Relaxation: Purring reinforces a sense of calm and peace, improving overall well-being.
