How Two Rescue Cats Changed Shailene Woodley’s World
When actress Shailene Woodley adopted her two rescue cats, Bear and Pharrah, she never imagined how deeply they’d change her daily life. “To earn their trust, to make them feel safe—it’s the most rewarding feeling,” she said.
Pharrah curls into her lap as she reads or works, a soft reminder that she’s loved. Bear, her more energetic companion, tends to keep the nights lively. “Even when he wakes me up, it makes me happy knowing he’s out there enjoying life,” she shared.
For Woodley, their bond has become something sacred. “Having an animal in the house changes everything,” she said. “There’s something mystical about connecting with a being that doesn’t share language but shares consciousness.”
Her favorite part of the day? When both cats curl into her arms at night. “It’s peace embodied.”

Breed Spotlight: Peterbald
If there’s such a thing as a dog trapped in a cat’s body, it might just be the Peterbald. Originating in St. Petersburg, Russia, this rare and graceful breed is known for its hairless (or nearly hairless) skin, playful energy, and remarkable loyalty. Peterbalds love people so much that they’ll follow their humans from room to room and greet visitors like family.
Born from crossing an Oriental Shorthair with a Donskoy, the Peterbald combines elegance with affection. They’re clever, outgoing, and happiest with plenty of company, human or otherwise. Because of their friendly nature, they don’t do well alone, but they thrive in multi-pet homes.
These cats come in several coat types, from completely bald to soft “velour.” Their sleek bodies, almond eyes, and oversized ears give them a distinctive, almost otherworldly look, but what really stands out is their personality: bold, gentle, and full of love.

Litter-Robot 5 Review: Smart, Safe, and Cat-Approved
After a couple of weeks of testing the Litter-Robot 5 with my cats, I finally understand why it’s earned its reputation as the gold standard for automated litter boxes. This is my first time using a self-cleaning litter box, and the difference was immediate — my home no longer smells like cat litter, and I’ve completely retired the daily scoop.
My one-year-old cat, Olive, is endlessly curious and full of energy. She’s turned the Litter-Robot’s cleaning cycle into her favorite new game, running over to “check on it” whenever it starts. Thankfully, the built-in safety sensors automatically pause the cycle when she gets too close — something I’ve come to really appreciate, since she shows no signs of losing interest.
What impressed me most, though, is how smart this version is. Through the app, I created individual profiles for each cat, complete with their weight and any health notes. The robot then tracks litter box usage per cat, which is especially valuable for monitoring my older cat, Chance, who’s had bladder issues in the past. Now, I can see how often he’s using the box and spot changes early — a real peace of mind feature.
The Litter-Robot 5 doesn’t just make life easier — it makes it cleaner, safer, and smarter for both cats and humans. For multi-cat households or anyone tired of scooping, it’s a serious upgrade that’s worth every penny. Thank you for sending us one, Litter-Robot!
Thank you to Litter-Robot for sending us, at Daily Purr, their new litter box. It has made my kitties’ and my life so much better!

Want to Train Your Cat to Travel?
Some cats are homebodies. Others were born ready to explore. If you’re wondering how to turn your own cat into a confident adventure buddy, it starts with a little patience and the right kind of training.
Leash training takes time, especially if your cat’s new to it. Begin indoors with short harness sessions and treats. Slowly introduce outdoor sights, smells, and sounds. Even adult cats can learn, as long as you move at their pace and make it positive.
As you explore, let your cat be your guide. You’ll move slower, sure, but you’ll see the world through their eyes. Pay attention to what your cat enjoys, and keep each outing stress-free.
Bring a familiar carrier or backpack as a safe retreat. And remember: your energy matters. If you’re calm and encouraging, your cat is more likely to relax and enjoy the journey.
Some days, your cat might just want to hang back. That’s okay. Travel is about trust, and the best companions are the ones who feel safe wherever they are.
