Meet the Maine Coon as Big as a Child

Finn isn’t just a big cat; he’s a huge cat. At 4.27 feet long and about 20 pounds, this 8-year-old Maine Coon from California is roughly the size of a 9-year-old child. His silky orange coat, regal stance, and long frame turn heads everywhere he goes.

Known for his gentle nature and a deep, rumbling purr, Finn is as affectionate as he is striking. He follows his human, Natalie Bowman, everywhere and even joins her on weekly leash walks, often stopping traffic from curious onlookers who mistake him for a dog.

His size means some extra accommodations, like a dog-sized carrier for vet visits and even a first-class plane ticket when he couldn’t fit under an airline seat. At home, Finn has full run of the bed, often leaving Natalie clinging to the edge.

For Natalie, Finn is more than a pet. He’s a constant, comforting presence and the beloved mascot of their neighborhood.

Meet Cat of the Day, Gumbo

Meet Gumbo, Daily Purr reader Cheryl’s one-year-old ball of mischief! Whether he’s plotting his next playful ambush or stretching out in his bed like a king, Gumbo keeps life lively.

This tuxedo troublemaker has a soft side, though. He absolutely melts for ear rubs, rewarding them with the sweetest looks. His big personality and equally big charm make him impossible not to love.

Only 4% of pet owners are thinking ahead

86% of pets aren’t insured. That means most pet parents could be on the hook for the sky-high vet bills that often come with unforeseen accidents and illnesses.

While it's impossible to pinpoint an exact percentage, it's likely your pet will get sick or injured during their lifetime. Pet insurance can help offset these unexpected costs. Many plans even let you choose a deductible and reimbursement level, which could allow you to arrive at a monthly premium you can afford. Check out Money’s list of their top pet insurance picks and start protecting your furry buddy today for as low as $10/month.

What Your Cat Might Really Be Thinking

Cats spend much of their day lounging, strolling to the food bowl, or enjoying short bursts of play, but their minds are far from empty. Research into feline cognition shows that cats remember, recognize, and form strong bonds, often looking to their humans for reassurance when something feels unfamiliar.

According to cat behavior experts, cats likely see us as oversized, two-legged cats. The way they greet us, with tails up, head rubs, and even grooming, mirrors how they interact with other cats. In their eyes, you’re just part of their pride, even if your habits seem puzzling to them.

While we can’t read their exact thoughts, body language offers clues. Relaxed ears, small pupils, and a loose body suggest contentment. Forward whiskers or a stiff posture can signal mild stress, while flattened ears, puffed fur, or an arched back often mean fear or agitation.

Next time you catch your cat’s gaze, you might just be seeing curiosity about what you will do next.
