True or False?
Cats always land on their feet.

What Cats Need On Hot Summer Days
Summer heat can sneak up on cats, especially those with thick coats or limited access to cool spaces. And yes, indoor cats can overheat too.
Start by keeping multiple bowls of fresh, cool water in easy-to-reach spots. If your cat enjoys moving water, consider a pet fountain. Frozen treats made with broth or wet food can also help keep them hydrated.
During the hottest hours, close curtains, run a fan or AC, and offer shaded nap spots with damp towels or chilled water bottles wrapped in cloth. Grooming matters tooâbrushing out excess fur can help, but skip the shave.
If your cat insists on outdoor time, aim for early morning or evening walks and keep travel carriers shaded and ventilated. And always bring extra water.

Meet Cat of the Day, Cocoa
Meet Cocoa, Daily Purr reader Rickâs beach-loving beauty. She doesnât need waves or sand, just a cozy blanket and a skylight for that perfect sunbeam soak.
This plush panther knows how to unwind. Whether sheâs sprawled out like royalty or curled up in her signature faux-sheepskin wrap, Cocoa turns any sunny patch into her personal resort.
Got a cat whoâs living their best life? We want to see them! Send us a photo and tell us a little about your feline for a chance to be our next Cat of the Day.

Vet Bills Wonât Break the Bank If You Have the Right Insurance
Surprise vet bills can certainly bite. But fear not, pet insurance can be your lifeline. Some plans cover major surgeries â which can cost up to $7,000 â so you can afford the best care for your pet. Check out our top-rated pet insurance providers, with some plans offering coverage for just $1 a day, multi-pet coverage, and reimbursement options of up to 90%. With the right coverage, you could keep your pet (and your wallet) happy.

Breed Spotlight: Egyptian Mau
With a naturally spotted coat and an elegant build, the Egyptian Mau looks like it walked straight out of a museum. These cats are one of the few domestic breeds with a naturally occurring spotted pattern. No stripes or patches here, just sleek silver or bronze with wildcat vibes.
But their looks arenât the only thing that sets them apart. Egyptian Maus are fast, really fast, thanks to long hind legs and a unique flap of skin that helps them stretch further when they run. Theyâre curious, talkative, and full of energy, often chirping and trilling as they explore every corner of their home.
Though theyâre affectionate and loyal, Maus arenât lap cats. They like attention on their terms and prefer interaction through play or proximity. Youâll usually find them perched up high or darting across a room at full speed.
If youâre up for a playful, smart companion with ancient roots and a modern attitude, the Egyptian Mau just might win your heartâand your couch.
