Cats sleep more than any other mammal.

Cat Survives Flood By Hiding In Oven
During a home cleanup after Texas's devastating July floods, one crew got more than they expected when they opened an oven and a frightened cat jumped out. The stunned team immediately called Kerrville Pets Alive, and volunteers rushed to rescue the shaken but alive cat.
The cat, now named Easy Bake, was thin, dehydrated, and covered in residue. He had burns on his legs, but still had enough strength to devour a snack the moment he was offered one. His vet said she was amazed he survived, especially in the summer heat.
Despite everything, Easy Bake is recovering. His grumpy expression earned him a nickname, but it hasn’t stopped the team from showering him with care.
For rescuers who’ve seen so much loss, Easy Bake’s survival is a reminder that some stories still end in hope.

How to Cat-Proof Like a Pro
Getting ready to welcome a cat into your home? A little prep goes a long way when it comes to keeping curious paws safe and your stuff intact. From shelves to sockets, here are five simple steps to get your home cat-ready.
Start by moving anything breakable out of reach. Cats love to climb and explore, so even the top shelf isn’t safe. Next, cover or hide electrical cords. Chewing on them is more common than you might think and can be dangerous.
Check your windows, especially if your cat’s a jumper. Pet screens or guards can help prevent accidental escapes. Cleaning products and medications should be stored in locked cabinets or off-limits rooms.
Finally, secure heavy furniture like bookshelves or dressers. Cats may turn them into climbing gyms, so anchoring helps prevent tip-overs.
Small changes can make a big difference and help your cat feel at home without the hazards.

Many pet owners don’t realize that chronic illnesses (like diabetes or allergies) can cost far more over a pet’s lifetime than a single emergency.
Pet insurance could save you thousands in repeat treatments and costs, so you’re not forced to choose between your pet’s health and other important expenses. Check out Money’s best pet insurance list to find plans starting at $10/month.
