The Cats Who Inspired a Brand-New Life
When Kirsti adopted her first cat at 50, she thought she was just bringing home a hypoallergenic fluffball. Instead, she accidentally rewrote her entire life — and her playlist.
After burning out in a high-pressure corporate job and facing a wave of personal challenges, she found comfort in a Siberian kitten named Lucifer, whose golden eyes and calm curiosity immediately anchored her days. Instagram updates turned into a full-blown cat community, and when Missy arrived six months later, the duo became instant crowd-pleasers. Their sibling-style antics had followers tuning in like it was primetime TV.
Somewhere between cat posts, healing, and rediscovering creativity, Kirsti blended her marketing background with the AI tools she’d been exploring — and “Kirsti and Her Cats,” a virtual synth-pop band inspired by her two felines, was born. Fans now play the songs for their own pets (with full feline approval).
Looking back, she says the shift was simple: two cats helped her slow down, reconnect with joy, and try something new — proof you’re never too old to reinvent your life with a little help from whiskers and wonder.

Science Shows Cats Support Heart Health
New research continues to show that living with a cat can support heart health in a measurable way. One long-term study tracking thousands of adults found that cat owners were significantly less likely to die from heart attacks or cardiovascular disease than people who never lived with cats.
Another study looked at stress responses in people with hypertension. While everyone took blood pressure medication, only participants who owned pets had noticeably smaller spikes during stressful tasks. The medication lowered baseline numbers — the pets helped with real-world stress.
Additional research has tied pet ownership to lower systolic pressure, healthier heart rate variability, and reduced cardiac risk overall.
Most people adopt cats for companionship, but the science is clear: sharing a home with a cat may also help support a healthier heart.

Meet Cat of the Day, Pickle
Meet Pickle — a cozy blanket napper by day and a brave little outdoor explorer whenever the mood strikes. She’s the kind of kitty who knows exactly what she wants: a good adventure, a warm spot to snooze, and tuna… always tuna.
Pickle is also a shameless fan of belly rubs and will happily flop over to request them with zero hesitation. Sweet, curious, and full of personality, she brings joy to every corner she claims as her own.
