Four Kittens Adopted After Close Call

A group of waste-site workers in England ended up with the sweetest surprise when they heard tiny cries coming from a massive woodpile scheduled to be cleared. Inside were four three-week-old kittens (Oreo, Biscuit, Mittens, and Bob) who were rescued just minutes before the pile would’ve been moved.

Mittens went home with one team member, Oreo and Biscuit became a bonded pair in another household, and Bob stayed with the driver who first heard the cries. Since they were so young, the kittens needed round-the-clock bottle-feeding before they were ready for real meals.

Now a few months older, each kitten has settled into their new life with big personalities: from confident ā€œhouse bossesā€ to cuddle-seeking nap companions. What started as a close call turned into four new family members who are thriving.

It’s not the first time this crew has stepped in, either. Earlier this year, one worker even rescued a lone duckling from traffic and adopted him, too. For this team, helping animals just comes naturally.

How to Grow a Cat-Safe Herb Garden

If you’ve been dreaming of fresh kitchen herbs but worry about your curious cat, good news: plenty of popular herbs are completely safe to grow at home. They add fragrance, flavor, and greenery without putting your feline at risk.

Basil, dill, and thyme are all non-toxic, easy to grow, and perfectly fine for cats to sniff or brush past. They don’t offer health benefits for cats, but they won’t harm them, even if your kitty sneaks a little nibble.

You can mix in enrichment favorites, too. Catnip and cat grass are the clear winners, giving your cat a safe outlet for zoomies and snacky urges. Valerian root, calendula, echinacea, and dandelion are also safe to keep around, adding color and texture to your garden without worry.

Just keep pots stable and chemical-free, and offer cat grass if your feline likes to chew plants. With the right mix, you can enjoy a fresh, fragrant herb garden, and your cat can explore it safely.

Meet Cat of the Day, Periwinkle

Meet Peri, the fluffy calico beauty who showed up at Sierra’s apartment doorstep one day and never left. She’s grown into the sweetest, sassiest girl with a love for tiny spaces, water splashing, and dramatic window bird-watching sessions.

Peri is also a proud little thief, stealing sponges, rags, and socks and delivering them to Sierra’s room like trophies. She even has her own Scrub Daddy that she treats as a treasured toy.

Between playful pouncing, chasing her favorite spring toys, and trying (sometimes too eagerly) to play with her siblings, Leo and Indigo, Peri proves every day that she was meant to find this family, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
