Meet Cat of the Day, Callista

Meet Callista, proud feline of Daily Purr readers Tony and Sandy—and queen of the cat tree.

With one eye on her kingdom and one paw ready to climb, Callista exudes confidence and curiosity. She’s got the perfect mix of sweet and spunky, always finding the coziest nook or highest perch to make her own.

Whether she’s mid-adventure or lounging like royalty, Callista is clearly living her best cat life.

This Velcro Cat Finally Found His People

After the Eaton Fire in January, a 7-year-old cat named Art was found alone in Altadena, California. He was brought to Pasadena Humane, where staff suspected he was once an outdoor community cat. Despite being a little wary, he loved attention and won over the volunteers with his charm.

Art was adopted by an experienced cat owner looking for a cuddly lap companion. But his affectionate nature came with some quirks, like play biting and swatting when overstimulated. After one incident left her with a bite, she made the tough call to return him, realizing he might be a better fit for someone else.

The shelter posted about Art on Facebook, calling him a “Velcro kitty” who loved showing off his fluffy belly. The post quickly went viral. Within days, a new family, one with experience handling spicy cats, came forward.

Now, Art is living his best life with people who understand and adore his affectionate, energetic personality.

Outsmart college costs

Ready for next semester? June is a key time to assess how you’ll cover college costs. And considering federal aid often isn’t enough, you might have to consider private student loans.

You’re just in time, though—most schools recommend applying about two months before tuition is due. By now, colleges start sending final cost-of-attendance letters, revealing how much you’ll need to bridge the gap.

Understanding your options now can help ensure you’re prepared and avoid last-minute stress. View Money’s best student loans list to find lenders with low rates and easy online application.

What Human Foods Are Safe for Cats?

If your cat gives you the “I want a bite” face during dinner, you’re not alone. And good news. There are a few human foods cats can enjoy too, in moderation. They’re not just safe, some are even nutritious.

Lean, unseasoned meats like cooked chicken or turkey are a top pick. Cats are obligate carnivores, so they thrive on animal protein. Cooked eggs and plain fish are also great options, offering amino acids and healthy fats.

Some fruits and veggies are cat-safe, too. A bite of watermelon can help hydrate, while cooked carrots and steamed broccoli provide fiber and vitamins. Even peas make a good snack. Some cat foods already include them.

For a little fun, try a blueberry. Some cats love to bat them around before munching. Just remember: treats like these should make up less than 10% of their diet.

As always, skip anything seasoned or sugary, and check with your vet if you’re unsure.

đŸ± Bite-Sized Treats

🧐 Why is my cat: It could be instinct. Some cats prefer to “hunt” or eat in a different location. Shallow or wide bowls may also help if whisker sensitivity is the issue.
