The Rescue Cat Traveling the World by Bike

What started as a solo cycling trip around the world took a completely different turn after a tiny kitten ran onto the road in Bosnia and started chasing Dean Nicholson’s bike. He planned to find the stray cat a home, but the kitten, later named Nala, quickly decided she was staying.

Since then, the pair have traveled through multiple countries together by bicycle, building a huge online following along the way. Nala adapted surprisingly quickly to life on the road, calmly riding on the bike, camping outdoors, and exploring new places wherever they stopped.

Dean says some of their favorite moments are the simplest ones: setting up a hammock near the water, relaxing in nature, and letting Nala investigate her surroundings. One memorable surprise came when Nala confidently jumped into a kayak during a trip in Greece, something Dean never expected from a cat.

Even with the incredible scenery and travel adventures, Dean says life on the road with a pet requires constant planning and responsibility. Through it all, Nala’s calm, curious personality has become the center of the journey, and a reminder to slow down and enjoy the small moments along the way.

Why Cats Love Hanging Around During Meals

Many cats seem strangely interested in dinnertime, even when they have zero intention of eating what’s on the table. Some sit nearby and quietly watch. Others suddenly decide it’s the perfect time to eat their own food. According to animal behavior experts, it’s usually less about stealing food and more about companionship.

Unlike dogs, cats aren’t true pack animals that naturally eat together in groups. But they do build strong social bonds with the people they trust. Sitting near their humans during meals can become part of a shared household routine that helps them feel comfortable, connected, and included.

Cats also love predictability. If dinner happens around the same time every evening, many quickly learn the schedule and show up for what they see as social time. Since humans tend to stay seated longer during meals, cats may also see dinnertime as one of the best opportunities for uninterrupted attention and closeness.

Some cats even prefer eating when their humans eat. Animal behaviorists believe this may come from feeling safer with a trusted companion nearby during a vulnerable activity like eating. For many cats, mealtime is less about begging for chicken and more about simply wanting to be near their favorite people.

What Happens When You Don’t Eat Enough Veggies?

Did you know that only 10-13% of adults in the U.S. get enough fruits and vegetables every day? It’s no surprise. Between busy schedules and picky eating habits, reaching your daily nutritional goals can almost feel impossible.

The result? Missing out on key nutrients that help you feel energized, maintain a strong immune system, and keep your digestion on track. The lack of proper nutrition can leave you feeling sluggish, run down, and more susceptible to illness. But what if there was an easier way to get the nutrients you need, without the hassle?

Meet Cat of the Day, Buddy

Meet Buddy, a 6-month-old orange-and-white cutie submitted by Daily Purr reader Daniel.

Buddy may still be a kitten, but he already thinks he is king of the house. When he is not stretched out in full royal relaxation mode, he loves playing fetch with his toys and keeping everyone entertained.

With that sweet face and confident little personality, Buddy clearly has the whole household right where he wants them.
