Comfort and Joy Cat Cafe in Colorado Springs stepped into the spotlight with its first-ever “Catwalk for the Cats” fashion show. The event benefited both the cafe and Teller County Regional Animal Shelter, drawing attention to local rescue efforts.

The runway featured cat-themed designs from 10 local designers, with more than 80 volunteer designers, models, and artists contributing their time and talent. Local fashion designer Autumn Olive spearheaded the project, combining her background in crochet and fashion with a cause close to the community.

Beyond the runway, local vendors offered food, drinks, and handmade arts and crafts. The show highlighted how creative collaboration can support adoptable cats and the organizations working to care for them.

The Peterbald is a medium-sized hairless breed that originated in Russia in the 1990s. Created by crossing a Donskoy with an Oriental Shorthair, the breed combines a sleek body with an affectionate, highly social personality.

Often described as “dog-like,” Peterbalds are known for their loyalty and strong attachment to their humans. They tend to greet visitors rather than hide and do not enjoy being left alone for long periods. Many form close bonds with other cats and even dogs, making companionship essential.

Their coats range from completely bald to soft flock, velour, brush, or straight varieties. Some individuals may experience coat changes over time. Because they lack insulating fur, Peterbalds can get cold easily and often benefit from warm indoor environments.

With long legs, large ears, and a graceful build, the Peterbald stands out for both appearance and personality. Though still relatively rare worldwide, the breed continues gaining attention for its distinctive look and affectionate nature.
