This Rescue Cat Turned Out To Be a Cuddler

When Morgan adopted a 7-year-old cat named Twilight from an Indiana shelter, she was told the feline was “independent.” That sounded ideal. A low-key companion for her early days as a new therapist? Perfect.

But Twilight had a secret. Within a few days of settling in, she ditched the aloof act and revealed her true nature—a full-on cuddler. Twilight started curling up on Morgan every chance she got, and made it clear: she wasn’t just along for the ride, she was the ride.

Now 12, Twilight is still glued to her person whenever possible. She naps on chests, follows Morgan around, and even gets cranky when she has to move for a therapy session.

Twilight also shares her home with a younger cat named Aura Moon. But according to Morgan, everyone knows who the real baby is. “Independent” may have been the label, but lovebug was always the truth.

A Quick Guide to Cat Eye Care

Clear, bright eyes are a sign of a healthy cat, but they can also be one of the first places to show something’s wrong. That’s why it’s helpful to check your cat’s eyes regularly, especially if they’re acting off or pawing at their face.

In a well-lit room, look for any discharge, redness, cloudiness, or swelling. Cats shouldn’t be squinting or showing their third eyelid. If you notice changes or your cat seems uncomfortable, it’s best to call your vet sooner rather than later.

Some cats, especially flat-faced breeds like Persians, may need daily help keeping their eyes clean. Use a damp cotton ball (never a wipe or swab) and gently wipe outward from the corner of the eye. Always use a fresh one for each eye.

If your vet prescribes eye drops or ointment, it might take a little teamwork. Keeping your cat calm is key—hold their head gently, apply the meds without touching the eye directly, then let them blink to spread the treatment.

Cat of the Day, Tom

Daily Purr reader Joan introduces Tom, a serious little guy with a watchful stare and a cautious spirit.

Tom and his brother started life as feral kittens, and while they’ve settled in, they still keep things low-key, especially around visitors. If guests are over, you won’t see them again until the coast is clear.

But when it’s just family, Tom sticks close, usually sprawled on the floor or claiming a seat nearby. He may be selective, but his loyalty is solid.
