The Adventure Cat Who Prefers a Splash
When Finn the Siberian joined his new family, his parents werenât expecting a daredevil. But on one of his first hikes in the evergreens, he surprised everyone by walking straight into a mountain lake and sitting down. He stayed there, happy and calm, for ten whole minutes.
Since then, Finnâs life has been full of water adventures. He swims, rides on boats, and even loves bath time. While many cats avoid water, Finn seems drawn to it, and his parents have embraced that fully, letting him explore safely on hikes and porch-leash hangs.
Heâs got a mischievous side, too! Finn opens cupboards, climbs stair railings, and has a talent for turning any space into his personal jungle gym.
But heâs also affectionate, on his terms. Whether lounging on his momâs head to demand breakfast or greeting neighbors like a porch pup, Finn proves that with a little patience and curiosity, cats can surprise us in the best ways.

How to Decode Your Catâs Purr
We often assume purring means a cat is content, but thatâs only part of the story. Cats purr for a variety of reasons, and paying attention to the context can reveal more about how theyâre really feeling.
For example, a steady, rhythmic purr usually signals comfort or affection. But a higher-pitched or broken purr might mean your cat is curious, cautious, or even stressed. Some cats even purr while eating or exploring new things, showing their excitement or focus.
Thereâs also the social side of purring. Cats may purr to communicate with humans or other animals, or to self-soothe when theyâre anxious or in pain. Studies even suggest that certain purr frequencies may help cats heal faster.
So while purring often feels like a compliment, it can also be a catâs way of processing the world around them. Next time your cat starts to rumble, notice when and howâit might say more than you think.

Breed Spotlight: Himalayan
Himalayan cats are known for their silky coats, striking blue eyes, and quiet charm. Sometimes called âColorpoint Persians,â theyâre a cross between Siamese and Persian cats, with the chill of one and the curiosity of the other.
Originally developed in the U.S. in the 1930s, the breed got its name from Himalayan rabbits (not the mountain range). The goal was to combine Siamese coloring with a Persian body and coat. By the 1950s, breeders had refined the look into what we now know as the Himalayan cat.
They tend to be gentle and affectionate, but also playful and a little mischievous. Thanks to their Persian roots, they often have that signature flat face and need regular brushing to keep their coats smooth and clean. Many Himalayans love lounging with their humans and donât mind a little pampering.
Today, theyâre one of the most beloved pedigreed cats. And whether you call them Himalayans or Colorpoint Persians, these sweet, plush companions are all about calm vibes and cozy companionship.
