Himalayan cats are known for their silky coats, striking blue eyes, and quiet charm. Sometimes called “Colorpoint Persians,” they’re a cross between Siamese and Persian cats, with the chill of one and the curiosity of the other.

Originally developed in the U.S. in the 1930s, the breed got its name from Himalayan rabbits (not the mountain range). The goal was to combine Siamese coloring with a Persian body and coat. By the 1950s, breeders had refined the look into what we now know as the Himalayan cat.
