Cowboy Kitty Takes the Stage
At a recent CFA cat show costume contest, an Oriental Shorthair stole the spotlight while sporting a cowboy outfit that would make any ranch hand proud. Complete with a mini cowboy hat and a sheriff badge, this little feline wrangler strutted his stuff like a seasoned pro. Just as he was about to impress the judges with his lasso skills, he miscalculated his balance and almost took a nosedive off the judging table. Fortunately, a quick-thinking judge swooped in like a rodeo hero to save the day, preventing what could have been the most dramatic tumble in cat show history.
The competition was fierce, with other contestants pulling out all the stops. One regal kitty flaunted a pink princess dress that made even Cinderella look like she was underdressed for a ball. While our courageous cowboy might have been ready to ride off into the sunset, he couldnāt help but feel a twinge of envy at the attention the purring princess was getting with her sparkly tiara and delicate sash. In the end, whether he took home a trophy or just the hearts of the audience, one thing was for sure: this rootinā tootinā cowboy was the real star of the show.
Jack-O-Lantern Cat Toy
Unleash some purr-fectly spooky fun this Halloween with your very own handmade jack-o-lantern toy. With just a few snips, some stitching, and a sprinkle of catnip magic, you'll transform ordinary felt into a festive feline favorite.
Supplies:
Felt in orange, black, green, and brown
Catnip
Craft knife or scissors
Embroidery floss in orange, green, and brown
Embroidery needle
Instructions:
Cut out two pumpkin shapes from the orange felt. Cut out the jack-o-lanternās face from each piece.
Using the orange felt as a guide, cut out two pumpkin shapes from the green felt. Be sure to make the green pumpkins slightly larger than the orange pumpkins. Cut out the center so you canāt see any green through the orange pumpkinās face.
Cut out two circles from the black felt. They should be just large enough to cover the pumpkinsā faces without reaching the edges.
Cut out two small pieces of brown felt for the pumpkinās stems.
Using the embroidery needle and orange floss, stitch the orange pumpkins to the green pumpkins. Make sure to stitch the orange pieces to opposite sides of the green pieces so that when theyāre put together the stems will face the same direction.
Use brown floss to stitch the stem pieces into place.
Put the black felt into place within the center of the green felt. Stitch around the pumpkinās facial features to secure into place.
Stitch any segment lines or other details onto the pumpkin faces.
Place the pumpkins together with the faces on the outside. Using the green embroidery floss, begin sewing the two sides together.
When you are a few inches away from sealing the pumpkin completely, add a scoop of catnip to the center of the pumpkins. Continue stitching the pieces together until sealed.
Give your feline friend his new jack-o-lantern catnip toy and watch the fun begin.

Kitty Costumes
With Halloween creeping up faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer, itās time to paw through the latest and greatest feline costumes. From spooky witches to adorable pumpkins, thereās no shortage of options to make your kitty the star of the neighborhood haunt. Just imagine the Instagram likes youāll rack up with a photo of your feline friend decked out in their finest attire, ready to join in the festive fun. But before you hit āAdd to Cart,ā make sure to keep a few crucial tips in mind to avoid a cat-astrophe.
First up: fit and comfort. A costume thatās too tight could turn your fluffy darling into a grumpy gremlin, while one thatās too loose might have them channeling a runaway ghost. Remember, itās all about allowing those natural movements. When it comes to materials, opt for soft, breathable fabrics like cotton that wonāt have your feline feeling like theyāre trapped in a sauna. Remember, comfort is key; we want our cats to strut their stuff, not fight their outfits like a wrestling match.
Lastly, be a patient cat parent and introduce the costume gradually. Start with a gentle sniff test and build up to wearing it, all while showering your furball with treats and praise. If your cat gives you those big, wide eyes of panic, itās time to take a step backāno need to create a Halloween horror show. Keep those precious moments short and sweet, and always supervise them while theyāre in costume to avoid any feline fashion disasters. With a little patience and a few tasty treats, youāll have a cat ready to join the Halloween festivities.
